Rob and Yvonne are very welcoming and friendly people. The place is nice and laid back. A comfortable place to sleep when you're tired from reeling in all the fish Rob sets out to find for you on his charter boat. It was a great time and we're now making this a yearly trip.
This has become my favorite place in Sekiu. Captain Rob who is the owner and operator with his wife also runs a fishing charter business too. He saved my weekend plans from falling apart after a friend's boat broke down and told me he had a spot open for Halibut and Ling Cod fishing yesterday. We were on the water for 12.5 hours, everyone limited out. I brought home one 20lb Halibut, two 10lb Ling Cod, fat 5lb Cabezon and a variety of colorful Pacific Rockfish. The room accomodations were also clean and nicely appointed. I highly recommend calling Captain Rob at Straitside Resort for an unforgettable fishing adventure!
Rob is an amazing captain and awesome guy. He got us our limits on Halibut, Ling Cod and Rockfish. He also showed us some awesome parts of the straits you don’t normally see. The inn was a great place and super nice accommodations. Highly highly recommend!!!
Highly recommend! I came up for and overnight while my parents were staying here and it was nothing short of amazing. The views, the fresh air, the food, the fish, the service. I could go on and on. Will be coming back!!
My friend invited me to go charter fishing and I didn’t know what to expect. We stayed in a 2 bedroom cabin with a view. The place was very clean and comfortable. Captain Rob is awesome. He did a great job making sure we got what we came for and took the time to stop at different beautiful areas for sight seeing and wildlife photography. I got to see Orcas, a couple whales breaching, sea lions…from a safe distance of course. I came back with an extra large cooler full of fish. Rob is super funny with a don’t mess around attitude (hey, he’s responsible for our lives and safety while out there.). He also has a big heart. He helped me through being seasick the first day and loosing my phone the next day. I was embarrassed and felt completely stupid but he made me feel better and made me laugh. I will definitely come back better prepared with friends and family. I usually don’t get seasick but I did this time. I was still able to fish but it was tough. so I would advise to bring seasickness medication. Thank you again Rob.
A little back ground first. I am from CA and was not wanting to do this business trip. I came up to Sekui with a room booked but not at Straitside Resort. When I arrived in Sekui everything was closed but Straiside Resort had a number to call if arriving late posted on the door. I called and was escorted to a room. Knowing I would be here a while I liked that you can cook for yourself in each room. I could keep going but I will cut it short. STRAITSIDE RESORT is a must visit location if in the area. The hosts are great! I cant wait to return to fish with the charter service from Straitside Resort when my family and I vacation here next summer. Its beautiful! What's also great is they have large enough rentals here that I only have to rent 1 suite (prices are also great) and not 4 separate rooms.
Went on 2 day fishing charter with Rob and it was an incredible experience. Rob took the time to show us some sights and look for wildlife (sea lions, whales, seals) on top putting us right on the fish both days! We limited out on coho salmon and rockfish the first day then limited again on halibut, ling cod, rock fish, and coho salmon the second day. Rob is the best and I would recommend Straitside charters to anyone!
I needed a bed and a shower, pulled into town, saw this place and called. Rob was so kind making sure I had what I need. I'mma come back and try charter fishing next time! Thanks again, Rob!
